When Mike Silverman visited the META24 building on the South side of Chicago his first reaction was it looks cool, what is it? A few months later, Mike, Nancy, Abbe and the crew are all very much part of the META/MZUZI family. Why is that significant in changing lives in Chicago? Many people come see the groundbreaking, outside the box work that we do, and want to be involved or have ideas, but are not really in position spiritually to sustain involvement. It does not mean their heart is not in the right place, it is just their station in life may not allow them to use their talents and presence to change lives because that is what this is all about. Capacity building is all through relationships, and using our talents to work alongside those who are in the trenches to connect transferable skills from one zip code to the next is what our work is all about. Like every human being our students need continuity and consistency to move from one place in their lives to the next positive stage. To be a part of the transformation takes a spiritual focus, or to keep it simple, sustained love. Getting involved for Mike turned into creating a lever to produce gift boxes traditionally purchased from one company to an assortment of products made by students on the South and West side of Chicago. As a result, Mike can now share his new passion with many of his clients that he is journeyed with, including the good folks like Georgia Nut who are partnering with us on the delicious candies and foods included in some of the boxes. Lives are changed and we are grateful to have met the Silverman family and look forward to many more years of lives changed!!!
